You can learn the skill from Rappanel in South Serbule. (He's in the inn.) As you advance in Bard skill, you will also need to improve other skills, including performance, vocabulary, and poetry appreciation. Rappanel should give you enough information to proceed at each stage. We need feedback on how easy/hard it is to advance as a bard! We also need feedback on the bard's general abilities and playability. Keep in mind that the bard is designed to be a support character. It is definitely possible to solo with the bard, but it's not going to be as fast as some other skills.

Note: the bardic music tracks are draft versions, not the finalized versions. There are small issues with the looping of some tracks, plus some pops and crackles in a few sound effects. These small issues will be fixed soon.

One other note: Bardic music is implemented as a "performance". This has many subtle ramifications, but one useful feature is that if you tire of hearing the bardic songs, you can go into the Configuration window's Audio tab and reduce the number of audible performers to zero.
Overview
Bard is a skill intended for Adventurers looking to provide support to their fellow travelers. The Bard skillset can only be used by humanoid races at this time, and travelers confined to Beast Forms will find it difficult, even impossible to use.
<!-- First, add a table of abilities learned up to level 50, or the first skill cap. See the example from Lycanthropy below. <div class="mw-collapsible" style="border:thin solid #DCC7A7ff;">
* Basic Bard Lute - It plays the right notes. -MainHand -Wooden
* Sturdy Bard Lute - The fretboard is reinforced with steel to keep it from breaking at an inopportune moment. -MainHand -Wooden
* Moldy Trancelute - This once-high-quality Trancelute was left out in the elements. No amount of tuning will make it very effective. -MainHand -Wooden
* Jolly Lute - This bardic instrument has a lovely, uplifting sound that makes it fun to play. -MainHand -Wooden
* Quality Bard Lute - Mass-produced by competent artisans, there is nothing special -- or especially wrong -- about this lute. -MainHand -Wooden
* Goblin Lute - Made for goblins by craftsman slaves. It seems fairly old, and has a nice sound quality. -MainHand -Wooden
* Trancelute - Augmented with magical sigils that enhance the lute's hypnotic properties. The magic isn't strong, but it's noticeable. -MainHand -Wooden
* Refurbished Doomlute - This ancient doomlute was severely damaged and then repaired by an expert. It still holds a bit of its magic. -MainHand -Wooden
* Leader's Lute - This is slightly louder than a normal lute, allowing more effective rallying. -MainHand -Wooden
* Rakshasa Lute - Made by an expert craftsman in Rahu. The body is imported hardwood, the strings are high-quality grimalkin gut, and the unusual enchantments give it a deep luxurious sound quality. Not for beginners! -MainHand -Wooden
* Starlute - The strange symbols etched into this lute seem to represent constellations, but not ones you're immediately familiar with. -MainHand -Wooden
* Withering Lute - Resonance sigils give this bardic weapon a potent boom. -MainHand -Wooden
* Doomlute - An ancient dwarven instrument from a long-lost age. -MainHand -Wooden
* Daisy - A gift from Rappanel, the elven bard. It has something of his signature sound. -MainHand -Wooden
* Basic Bard Horn - A simple instrument made of animal horn. -OffHand
* Blowing Horn - A simple instrument made of animal horn. -OffHand
* War Shofar - A musical instrument made of ram's horn. -OffHand
* Blast Horn - Made of a large animal horn and enchanted with magics that enhance its volume. -OffHand
* Quality Ocarina - Carved from a ram's horn by an artisan in Statehelm. -OffHand
* Stickhorn - A wooden instrument that was invented by lumberjacks in Sedgewick Forest to ward off Treant saplings. -OffHand
* Stonebugle - Made of stone, this traditional dwarven instrument requires much skill to use. -OffHand
* Death Lur - A wooden instrument with terrible and toxic enchantments. Even touching it to your lips causes slight pain. -OffHand
* Leader's Conch - Made from a sea-snail shell, this instrument has an ominous tone.
* Oakhorn - Made of a secret elven wood (not oak, despite the name), this horn has a somber quality. -OffHand
* Weaver's Ocarina - A simple horn instrument that's been enchanted to make listeners more nimble. -OffHand
* Echo Horn - An instrument made of two ram horns, one embedded inside the other. The sound is terrible, so it is exclusively used as a weapon. -OffHand
* Infallible Conch - This horn is made of shell and enchanted with protective runes. -OffHand
* War Ocarina - This sort of instrument is said to be used by elves when they go to war. The last elven war is a distant memory, however, so it's unclear who's making these horns. -OffHand
* Destiny Horn - Made from the horn of the extinct Destiny Ram, this instrument is illegal in six countries, including Verta. But it sounds great!
* Classic Lute - A well-made but simple lute, perfect for beginners. -MainHand -Wooden
* Gemshorn - An ocarina made of horn. This instrument is especially easy to learn. -OffHand
* Blatterhorn - A brass horn of dwarven design. -OffHand -NOT A WEAPON
* Hand Drum - A simple and nicely-made drum. -MainHand -NOT A WEAPON
* Harp - A tiny harp. Sounds pretty good. -OffHand -NOT A WEAPON
* Mini-Dulcimer - Equipping this item grants you basic proficiency in its use, assuming you already have mastery of the drum. -OffHand -NOT A WEAPON
* Fog Horn - Found within a sentient weather phenomenon, this bizarre horn gives off an eerie glow. -OffHand

This is a temporary list to help add item pages down the line. Lute instruments are all MainHand, while everything else is OffHand. Even though only the Lutes are tagged as Wooden, Druids may use all instruments.
-OffHand
As you advance in Bard skill, you will also need to improve other skills, including performance, vocabulary, and poetry appreciation.

This is a temporary list to help add item pages down the line. Lute instruments are all MainHand, while everything else is OffHand. Even though only the Lutes are tagged as Wooden, Druids may use all instruments.
-OffHand
This is a temporary list to help add item pages down the line. Lute instruments are all MainHand, while everything else is OffHand. Even though only the Lutes are tagged as Wooden, Druids may use all instruments.
-OffHand
The skill can be expensive due to the required ingredients used in spell research: Fire Dust, Saltpeter, Sulfur, Explosive Runestone. Please see the pages for those ingredients for more information on how to gather them. Researching is not a lottery, each recipe can only be completed a number of times so the amount of ingredients required is fixed. The research mechanic simply adds a little randomness to the order in which you receive the abilities.
Fire Wall
An interesting mechanic is that Fire Magic has a “Fire Wall” pet that just stands around and burns things. It’s implemented as a pet internally, but since it’s a wall, it can’t follow you around. It’s more like a trap. It can also be killed by enemies.
Equipment
Not all staffs are produced with the proper runes to handle the use of magic. Casting Fire Magic requires the use of a Fire Staff. Fire Magic wielders may also use an offhand Heat Orb to augment their abilities.
Trivia
Fire Magic was one of the first magic skills in the game, and one of the only skills that has seen a complete reset of player levels.
